Dr. Waters‑Lemma is a Merrick‑born veterinarian proudly serving pets and families throughout Nassau County. A true local, she grew up in Merrick before earning her veterinary degree from The Ohio State University, one of the nation’s leading veterinary programs. She went on to gain extensive clinical experience at a busy Nassau County animal hospital while also volunteering at local shelters, providing spay/neuter services, preventive care, and behavior support for pets in need.

Dr. Waters‑Lemma’s professional interests include low‑stress handling, behavior modification, preventive medicine, internal medicine, and surgery. She has a strong passion for caring for therapy dogs, service dogs, police K9s, and performance/working dogs, focusing on injury prevention, physical conditioning, and mental well‑being to help them perform at their highest level.

As a Level 3 Fear Free Certified Veterinarian, Dr. Waters‑Lemma is dedicated to reducing fear, anxiety, and stress in pets—strengthening the human‑animal bond and creating a calmer, more positive veterinary experience for dogs and cats.

Outside the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her husband, young son, and their pets.
