Avian Care at East Bay VH
Regular wellness exams are an important way to ensure that your pet bird has a clean bill of health. During your bird’s wellness exam at East Bay Veterinary Hospital, we will carefully examine your bird for signs of potential health issues. Birds commonly hide signs of illness, adding to the challenge of making a diagnosis. That’s why it’s important to look for strange behavior or other signs of trouble. For example, a sick bird may spread out their feathers, or sit silently at the bottom of the cage with their eyes closed.
Other signs of a health issue in birds include:
- Changes in weight
- A change in the consistency, frequency, or color of droppings
- Sneezing, coughing, blocked nostrils, labored breathing
- Crusty beak or eyes
If you notice any signs of illness in your pet, please contact us right away. Our veterinarians and staff are highly skilled at treating and caring for avian and exotic pets and are pleased to be able to offer care and guidance. Call us today to schedule an annual wellness exam for your pet bird.
