Kitten Wellness Care
Congratulations on Your New Kitten!
The lifetime of love and strong bond you will share with your cat begins the day you bring your kitten home. Getting a kitten is an exciting time but there are certain essentials you will need to know to ensure your new kitten remains healthy. We are your best partner in helping you keep your kitten healthy so he or she grows into the most wonderful cat they can be.

Kitten Wellness Care at East Bay Veterinary Hospital
When you bring your kitten home, please schedule an appointment with one of our veterinarians for your kitten’s first wellness exam. During your pet’s first visit, we will perform a thorough physical and dental evaluation which allows us to establish an individualized wellness care program for your including proper vaccinations, parasite protection, and nutrition.
Your kitten’s first exam will give us the opportunity to learn your expectations as a client and a pet owner. We are happy to address all of your questions and/or concerns about kitten and kitten care in general during any kitten wellness exam.
When you pick up your kitten, remember to ask what and when he or she was fed. Replicate that schedule until your first kitten visit with us. We will discuss your kitten’s breed, anticipated lifestyle, and nutritional needs with you during your first kitten visit.
Your kitten’s first visit includes:
- A comprehensive physical exam
- A customized vaccination program dependent on your kitten’s age and lifestyle
- Internal and external parasite screening
- Intestinal parasite deworming (as needed)
- Medical recommendations for preventing and controlling fleas and ticks
- Housetraining and behavioral consultation
- Nutritional and exercise guidance
We ask that you provide us with the health information from the seller, breeder, or shelter from which you obtained your kitten on your first visit with us. This should include a history of vaccinations and deworming, as well as a recent stool sample.
